Fun Rural Town Historic Storefront- 403 Georgia Street, Louisiana, MO FOR SALE
This is a fun opportunity to buy a historic storefront in the charming Mississippi river town of Louisiana. The building dates to 1879 and for many years was a saloon. In the 30’s the storefront was converted to be Maxfield’s Department Store. The exterior has original vitrolite facing from the 30’s and the Maxfield’s neon sign. The interior is fun, coffee-house chic. Pieces have been salvaged and repurposed throughout the structure. This space would be an ideal bar, coffee house, restaurant or retail space. There is ample living space above the storefront for the owner to live. New electrical systems and plumbing. Be different and adventurous!

The Pet Deer
The year was 1978, my grandfather bought a yellow Jeep for the farm and used it to drive around the acreage. There was a fawn hiding in the tall grass and he hit it. My cousins put it in a chicken coop and raised it back to health. It became a pet. This is one of my favorite pictures. I think I took it with my new disk camera. They brought the deer into the house for Thanksgiving or Christmas. At one point it jumped across a rather large cocktail table. Eventually the deer was let loose. It lingered around the lawn for a few days and then we did not see him/her again. I hope he/she did not think a hunter was as friendly as us.

Clarksville Skylift
Clarksville is such a lovely little town right on the Mississippi. There are great shops, Bed and Breakfasts, Overlook Farms Restaurant and much more. For the quaint town to really reach its potential…the Skylift must be reopened. Visitors need more to do while visiting.
I remember taking my 18 yo son there when he was a baby right before it closed….so it has been a long time shuttered. I got excited when I saw the sign below on the structure, though I understand that it has been there a while with no progress.
Happy July 4th!
